Penghulu Doa

Itulah doa "Rabbana atina fiddunya hasanah, wafil akhirati hasanah, waqina 'aza bannar"

Hadeeths Reminder: Compilation of 7 hadeeths

Dah lama saya tak masukkan hadeeth reminder yang sering dihantar oleh sahabat yg saya kasihi Annee.. Semoga menjadi peringatan buat diri saya dan keluarga khususnya serta semua pembaca blog ini Insya-ALLAH

1. TALL BUILDING

Narrated Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu): Allah’s Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “The Hour will not be established till …the people compete with one another in constructing high buildings…” [Sahih Bukhari]

Thus, competing in the construction of tall buildings is one of the signs of the Day of Judgement. In a hadith recorded in Sahih Muslim, Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) told us that
“you shall see barefoot, naked, penniless shepherds vying in constructing high buildings.”

This hadith describes people who become rich all of a sudden and then build not for need but only in competition. We see this today in the Gulf states, after the oil boom. People who had no money are now competing with one other in erecting tall buildings. They are competing in building taller and taller structures where there is no need to make such buildings, as there is a lot of space!

It is not like Singapore or New York or Japan, where people had to build vertically for lack of space.Building superfluous structures was one of the characteristics of the people of Aad, who were destroyed by Allah’s punishment. Prophet Huud (alaihis salam) questioned their building unnecessary monuments on top of mountains. But do we even question today what kind of “development” is happening? Or are we too busy gloating in this senseless competition with the Kuffar, that if they can build tall buildings, we can build taller?

2. THE HOUR IS AT HAND

On the authority of Anas ibn Malik (radi Allahu anhu), the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “I have been sent when the Hour is like this” – and he pointed with his forefinger and his middle finger. [Sahih Bukhari]

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) put his noble forefinger and middle finger together, symbolizing with the former, human history until his time, and with the latter, history until the Day of Judgement.

With the Day of Judgement so close we still do nothing to prepare for it, instead waste our health and time on worthless pursuits. Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) asks, “Are they waiting for anything except the Hour, that it should come upon them unawares? Its warning conditions have already come.” [47:18] Nobody can avoid the Day of Judgement, irrespective of when they die.

Then what is the use of being so involved with worldly pleasures?“Like all Islamic virtues, zuhd is a golden mean between two extremes; in this case the extremes of worldliness and of monkery. Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal defined zuhd as ‘Not to be pleased when given the things of this world, and not to be sorry when they are taken away.’
He also taught that there are three degrees of zuhd: that of the common people, which involves avoiding what is forbidden (haram), that of the elite, which is to avoid what is permissible (halal) but unnecessary, and that of the highest elite, which is to avoid everything which distracts one from God.” [Translator’s note, The Seventy-Seven Branches of Faith, p.56, The Quilliam Press]

“The early Muslims were indifferent to the things of this world: gold was as dust in their sight, but this did not make them into monks or recluses; instead they conquered great empires and created a new civilization. Similarly, the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) foretold that the Muslims would one day become weak, and that the reason for this would be ‘love of the world, and hatred of death.’” [Translator’s note, The Seventy-Seven Branches of Faith, p.56, The Quilliam Press]

3. PIETY

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “A man bought a piece of land from another man, and the buyer found a jar filled with gold in the land. The buyer said to the seller: ‘Take your gold, as I bought only the land from you and not the gold.’ The owner of the land said: ‘I sold you the land with everything in it.’
So both of them took their case before a third man who asked: ‘Have you any children?’ One of them said: ‘I have a boy.’ The other said, ‘I have a girl.’ The man said: ‘Marry the girl to the boy and spend the money on them; and whatever remains give it in charity.’” [Sahih Bukhari]

This is a story of some people from the past who showed exemplary honesty, piety and the desire to abstain from doubtful property. It is only the conviction of accountability before Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) that can allow a person to refuse a jar of gold when he/she could easily keep it. Judge your level of piety/awareness of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) by what you would have done in such a situation.

4. THE GRAVE

It is related from Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) that the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “The grave is more horrifying than any horrible scene I ever saw.” [Tirmidhi, Baihaqi, Hakim – Hasan]

Once you are carried to the graveyard you are brought close to the ground so that you dwell in a small, dark lonely hole. The nearest of kin and the most beloved to you have lowered you into your grave, where you will rest placed on your right side, with the top of the shroud on your face untied and a stone placed on the hole (Lahd) inside the grave you were placed in.

They then threw soil in your grave and when they finished, one of them said, “Invoke Allah for forgiveness for your brother and for making him firm (so that he affirms to the angels Munkir and Nakir that Allah is his Lord, Islam is his religion and Muhammad is the Messenger he followed), for he is now being asked.”

[Silent Moments: The Description of Before and After Death Aspects by Abdul-Malik Al-Qasim]Whenever Uthman (radi Allahu anhu) stood next to a grave, he used to weep until his beard became wet. He was asked, “You mention Paradise and do not weep, but you weep from this scene?” He said, “The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “The grave is the first in the stages of the Hereafter. If one is saved from it, what is afterwards is even easier. If one is not saved from it, what comes after that is even harder.” [Az-Zuhd p.189. Hasan hadith collected by Tirmidhi, Baihaqi, Hakim.]

5. SURAH BAQARAH KEEPS SYAITAN OUT

Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, "Do not turn your houses into graves. Shaitaan is barred from any house in which Surat al-Baqarah is recited." [Sahih Muslim]

Some houses have a happy, welcoming feel to them while others have a depressing, desolate aura about them. A house that is haunted inspires in the person who enters it, the feeling that one should not be there and makes one feel like running away from it. One of the ways to keep the Shayateen (devils) out of your house is by reciting Surah Baqarah in it frequently. When a house is free of Shayateen you will feel peaceful and comfortable in it.

6. GAINING KNOWLEDGE TO REVIVE ISLAM

Hasan Al-Basri narrated that Allah’s Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “He whom death overtakes while he is engaged in acquiring knowledge with a view to reviving Islam with the help of it, there will be (only) one degree between him and the Prophet in Paradise.” [Tirmidhi and Darimi]

When Islam first came, society was so corrupt that the teachings of Islam appeared strange. The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) foretold that there would once again come a time when people would have gone so astray that the teachings of Islam would appear strange to them.

This hadith promises a fantastic reward to those who exert themselves in acquiring the knowledge of Islam for the sole purpose of reviving Islam again. Before one may revive Islam in oneself or in society, one must first know what Islam is exactly. It is therefore necessary to study Islam in order to cleanse our understanding of it from the cultural and whimsical beliefs and practices that we have added to it.

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) will bless, with one of the highest levels of Jannah, the Muslim who is engaged in acquiring knowledge to ultimately revive Islam with it. Our efforts are within our control, whereas the results of our efforts are not. Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) in His mercy has not made what a Muslim is able to achieve by his/her efforts the basis for reward. Rather, it is our desire, intention, and effort which Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) values and rewards. When one’s efforts for the Deen are going well and many appear to benefit by it, it is easy to feel content.

It is important then not to let worldly recognition of the effort become the goal, rather than Allah’s pleasure. On the other hand, it is easy to get disheartened when one sees that one’s efforts are not bearing fruit. In Allah’s system of assessment, each effort for His sake is rewarded fully, regardless of its worldly outcome. We need to stay focused on seeking only Allah’s pleasure with whatever we do. Muhammad (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) has the highest level in Jannah. To be only a degree away from him is the greatest success.

7. THE SAFEST VAULT

Allah's Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: "Allah said (to man), 'Spend (in charity), for then I will compensate you (generously).'" [Sahih Bukhari] #7496

No matter how carefully you try to guard you wealth, it could get robbed, it could get consumed in a fire (Allah Forbid), the bank could file bankruptcy, the stock market could crash, any number of things could happen.

But the wealth which you deposit with Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) is in the safest Hands. It never perishes, it is in no danger, and in fact there is guaranteed increase in it. Whatever you spend in charity, is saved with Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) and you do not need to bother to keep it safe from thieves or anything else. Furthermore, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) will not only give it back with an increment in the next life, but will do the same in this life too. There is no compensator better than Allah (subhana wa ta'ala).
