A Portion For Your Heart: Stung Twice?

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “A believer does not allow himself to be stung twice from one (and the same) hole.” [Bukhari]

A Muslim is required to learn from his or her mistakes, analyze their failures and if there is any shortcoming that he can avoid repeating, then he or she is required to avoid it. Once an individual or group has shown evil behaviour towards us, we are not to become victims again. It is not only our personal experience that we are required to learn from, but the experience of the Muslim Ummah and the guidance that we receive from Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) in recognizing our friends and foes. Nobody knows better than Allah what is in a creatures heart: therefore, a sensible person will avoid harm by paying heed to the advice from the All Knower, Allah (subhana wa ta'ala).

A Portion For Your Heart: Lying Blackens The Heart

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise; a person remains truthful until he is written as a Siddeeq (truthful person) with Allah. Lying leads to sin and sin leads to the Fire; a person keeps lying until he is written as a Kadhdhab (liar) with Allah.” [Bukhari, Muslim]

Imam Malik records that Abdullah ibn Masud would say, “Each time someone lies a black spot appears on his heart until his whole heart becomes black and he is written with Allah as a Kadhdhab.” He also records that it was asked of Luqman, “How have you reached this level in excellence?” He replied, “By being true in speech, fulfilling trusts and leaving what does not concern me.”Such is the importance of remaining truthful that the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said that a Momin could at any one time perform one sin or the other but he could never be a liar.

Shaitan incites us to lie, saying it is only one lie. But that is how the habit develops and before a person knows it, each black dot has had its cumulative effect of blackening the whole heart. The complete blackening of the heart is the proof a person presents to Allah to have him or her written down as a kadhdhab -- a confirmed liar.

The H1N1 cases in M'sia is rising, till today the number stands at 56 death cases.. Amirah ( Along carpool's partner) was down with fever for 3 days already...Her brother from one of the Maahad in Kelantan was sent back home due to high fever also.. 13 students were absent in one of the standard 1 class in Along and angah's school and sometimes they have no classes because the teachers also suffering the fever/cough/cold..Last week abg Chik and along were down with fever but Alhamdulillah only for 2 days.. but abang Chik still has coughing off and on.

The world has coming nearly to an end.. a lots of peringatan from Allah under the name of epidemic diseases and people are still not bothered.. So scary! May Allah help and protect us always!

Ustaz Asri from Kumpulan Rabbani passed away yesterday (Thu 13 Aug 09) due to heart attack.. I'm not a big fan of him but I use to read about him in my fav magazine (ANIS).. He was one of the pejuang ...May Allah Bless his soul..The day was somber...

So the kids are at home.. No more outdoor activities...Not sure till when..The house has turned into the playground and school sometimes with myself (most of the time) as the co-ordinator and teacher..

One of the activities that we used to do was kite flying at Kosmopolitan Lake..Which now can only be enjoyed by looking at the pictures sob..sob..

Kosmopolitan Lake situated on the left hand side of the MRR2 ....On the way to FRIM.

In 2008 (Before baby Mawaddah was born):

They had fun riding the bicycles in the big compound (Adik was 3, angah 7 and along 10).. Adik can already cycle 4 wheels bicycle. Along and angah can ride 2 wheel bicycles already

There's also a train ride around the big lake and the tickets were very-very cheap... RM3-4 per adult and RM2 per child per ride

Along's favourite baby brother

Angah in action- sorry no picture of the kite

Hubby helping adik to fly the kite

Getting prepared to fly the kite

Along arrived first! Adik tried to catch up..he..he

In 2009 (After baby was born)

We went again for picnic, kite flying and bicycle ride. We went in the morning and bought nasi lemak, meehoon, doughnuts, teh 'o' panas and plain water... Kites were sold there ranging from RM5 (the cheapest) until RM15..Hubby bought Sponge Bob and the kids chose their own kites . It is made of plastic not like when we are small we made kite using the newspaper and bamboo or lidi. The new kites now can even be folded and be kept when not in use.

Big playground waiting..he..he..

This is the place that the kids love to cycle because there were fountains around the area but at that time there was a 'kenduri kawin' held there.. So they rode at the playground area..

Baby in the pram with her bantal bucuk

This is not our kite, this is one of the proffesional who use a parachute and parasailing technique .He controlled the kite using both arms... Beautiful huh!

Along with her cute kite

There were so many kites on top of us.. Beautiful and colourful!!

But adik a.k.a Abg Chik was only flying his kite on the ground..He..He.. He keeps running with the kite.

Macho Mu'az..He..He..

Hopefully our country will be free from the H1N1 soon.. Really miss the outings..

A Portion For Your Heart: Do Not Reciprocate

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “If somebody reproaches you and makes you feel ashamed of any of your defects, do not make him feel ashamed of any of his defects.” [Abu Daud]

Usually, when somebody points out one of our shortcomings, we immediately become defensive and start finding faults with them. But the advice of our beloved Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam), is that we should listen quietly and evaluate what we are being told. If there is something we can improve about ourselves, it is only to our own advantage to do so. If the criticism is unjustified, then we are rewarded for our patience and good behaviour in not retaliating. The angels will take care of defending our honour. Starting a counter attack opens the door for Shaytaan to come in and take over.

Once Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (radi Allahu anhu) was sitting with the Prophet (sal allahu alaihi wa sallam) when a man came and started to abuse Hazrat Abu Bakr. Hazrat Abu Bakr remained silent. Finally, he started to speak in his defence. At this point the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) got up and left. Hazrat Abu Bakr immediately went after him and inquired if he had done something wrong. Rasul Allah replied that as long as he had been silent, angels had been speaking on his behalf, but when he started to respond, the devil came and sat down next to him. As the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) could not remain seated where the devil was sitting, he left.

A Portion For Your Heart: Sinning Publicly

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “All of my ummah are apt to be forgiven, except for those who commit sins openly.” [Bukhari]

When a person commits a crime in public, justice demands that the criminal be punished. The purpose of punishment is that it acts as a deterrent. If a criminal is not punished, it provides an incentive to all would be criminals to go ahead.Similarly, so long as a sin is known only to the sinner and Allah, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) may forgive it. But when sin is committed publicly, the punishment becomes incumbent on the sinner.

Sinning publicly shows a person's insensitivity towards the enormity of what they are doing. Seeing sins taking place in public, also desensitizes other people to the sin, taking them one step closer to doing it themsleves. This is why, even if we are to find out about immoral activities happening, we should not broadcast them, for to do so would further spread evil in society.

A Portion For Your Heart:You Know What She Said!...

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “He who stirs enmity among people, by quoting their words to each other, will not enter Paradise.” [Bukhari]

Unfortunately, this is a common social evil these days. Rather than mend relations among people, Shaytaan has us excited about carrying tales to each other. “You won’t believe what he did!...Can you imagine what she said?...”Refuse to listen to what other people have said or done. It is backbiting, just to hear it. If what you are being told about is not true, it is an even bigger sin, both for the person telling it and the person listening to it. If you tell yourself not to believe everything you hear, your heart will nevertheless be tainted by it. That is why the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) told his companions not to say things about each other to him, since he didn't want to meet them with disquiet in his heart.

If Rasul Allah's feelings for people had the possibility of getting soured by hearing tales about them, despite his being rehmat-ul-lil- alameen, then we are certainly not above being corrupted by listening to tales. The people who carry tales from one person to another, do it in the guise of well wishers. First they sympathize with one party. Then they take what they have gleaned to other people and sow discord, ruining relations between people, by repeating things. A person who behaves in such a manner is being two faced. Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “You find that among the worst people is someone who is two-faced, showing one face to some and another face to others.” [Bukhari]
